Behind the Scenes

One Contractor for the Roof, Eavestroughs, Soffit and Fascia

July 9, 2026

Stand under the edge of your roof and look up at the corner where everything meets: the last course of shingles, the drip edge, the fascia board, the eavestrough hung off it, and the soffit tucking back to the wall. That's not four separate things — it's one assembly that has to shed water as a unit. It's just rarely built that way.

The roofline is one system

Water leaves the field of the roof, runs off the drip edge, drops into the eavestrough, and is carried by the downspouts away from the foundation. The soffit vents feed the attic air that keeps the whole roof deck dry from underneath. Fascia ties it all together and takes the weight of the troughs. If any one part is wrong — a trough pitched the wrong way, a blocked soffit vent, a drip edge that stops short — the others start to fail too.

Where multi-trade jobs go wrong

The usual pattern is a roofer does the shingles, a gutter company comes back weeks later, and a third crew handles soffit and fascia if it comes up at all. Each one does their piece and leaves. Nobody owns the seam between them. The trough gets hung on fascia the roofer didn't check for rot. The soffit installer covers a ventilation problem the roofer needed open. Six months later there's a drip at the corner and three phone numbers, each pointing at the other two.

One point of contact, start to finish

When the same contractor handles the roof, the drainage and the trim, those decisions get made together. The rotten fascia board gets replaced before the new trough goes up. The soffit venting is balanced to the roof's ridge vents. The drip edge, flashing and eavestrough are detailed to work with each other. And if something isn't right afterward, there's one contractor accountable — not a debate about whose scope it was.

How we work

At Hakim Roofing & Exteriors, one team quotes the job, is on site while it's done, and is who you call afterward. Roofing and the exterior systems around it are handled as one scope, in as few visits as possible, with the site left clean at the end of each day. With 5+ years of experience and more than 1,000 satisfied customers across the GTA, this is how we keep the whole edge of the house sorted properly and once.
